Dear Friends and Valued Customers,

After 45 years in retail-35 years of those with Brown’s Shoe Fit Co- I want to share that I will be retiring at the end of year, on December 31.

I began my career in Salina as an assistant manager before becoming a manager and partner in Norfolk, Nebraska, where I spent 16 years. For the past 18 years I’ve had the privilege of serving the community of Hutchinson.

Throughout this journey, I’ve been fortunate to help generations of families find the right fit and to build lasting relationships along the way. The support, loyalty and friendship you’ve shown have meant more to me than I can ever put into words.

I also want to thank my past and current staff who have supported me along this long path-their dedication, hard work and commitment helped make this career so rewarding. And of course, I want to thank my wife, Tammy, and our family for all the years of sacrifices they made that allowed me to devote so much time and energy to this career. I couldn’t have done it without their love and support.

Most importantly, I want you to know that the tradition of Brown’s Shoe Fit Co will continue here in Hutchinson. A new manager and partner will be stepping in to carry on the same level of service and commitment you’ve come to expect. I am confident the store will remail a trusted part of your lives for many years to come.

I have been with Brown’s Shoe Fit for 20 years. I love to help people, so this job is perfect for me.

I originally got into this business not because of a love for shoes but a love for helping people. To me there is no better feeling than being able to help change someone’s quality of life through a source that isn’t thought of very often, footwear. Your feet create the foundation needed to make everything else through the body work correctly, so I encourage anyone who walks through our front door to fill me in on their structural issues or pain so I can do everything in my power to help relieve some of that! 

Some of my proudest career accomplishments include being one of 27 nominees for Nebraska Retail Champion in 2017, and being voted the 2023 Business Person of the Year. I’m also proud to be a Chamber of Commerce Board Member, and loved my time as President of Main Street Beatrice.

I do spend a lot of time working and serving the community, but I also love to spend time with my family, our dogs, and our friends. I am naturally a competitive person and love all kinds of sports. My family and I are originally from central Kansas, so I root for K-State, the Chiefs, and the Royals. I also love Nascar and auto racing in general, but my true passion is working with classic cars.

I am a firm believer that life throws all sorts of curve balls your way and it’s all about how you handle those situations!

Our expert staff is trained to measure feet the old fashioned way, but they are also trained to use Aetrex’s foot mapping technology and the New Balance digital fit finder. With all this tech on top of the classic sit and fit experience, we can not only check your shoe size, but we can also identify problem spots and determine if your foot is flat, pronated, or has a high instep.
